Extended Summer Hours for Multiple Museums in Foshan

Chancheng District


From now until August 31, the opening hours for Foshan Liang's Garden, Foshan Ancient Town Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall, Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum, and Chen Tiejun's Former Residence are adjusted to 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (with last entry at 5:10 PM for Liang's Garden and 5:00 PM for the other venues).


The Foshan Ancient Town Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall, Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum, and Chen Tiejun's Former Residence are closed on Mondays.


Foshan Liang's Garden


Foshan Liang's Garden, built during the Jiaqing Period of the Qing Dynasty, is a private garden of the Liang Family in Foshan. It is one of the four famous gardens of the Qing Dynasty in central Guangdong, alongside Shunde Qinghui Garden, Panyu Yuyin Mountain House, and Dongguan Ke Garden, representing the outstanding Lingnan garden style. Liang's Garden is renowned for its beautiful waters, unique rocks, and famous calligraphy.



Foshan Ancient Town Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall


Covering an area of about 2,300 square meters, this exhibition hall features specialized halls with multimedia interactions, showcasing the historical development of Foshan Ancient Town.


The six thematic exhibition halls focus on metallurgy, traditional Chinese medicine, folk culture, martial arts, commercial culture, and ceramics, each offering a unique perspective on Foshan's rich history and intangible cultural heritage.



Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum


Located in the Zhaoxiang Park in Chancheng District, Foshan, this museum covers over 2,000 square meters. The museum is divided into three main sections: history, art, and people, with a total of 10 exhibition rooms. Exhibits include Cantonese opera scripts, wooden fish books, posters, costumes, instruments, and early Cantonese opera films, records, and photographs from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the present.



Chen Tiejun's Former Residence


This residence covers about 280 square meters and features a traditional three-room, two-hall courtyard layout from the Qing Dynasty. The museum showcases Chen Tiejun's short yet glorious life through photographs and artifacts.



Nanhai District (Including Kang Youwei Museum)


From now until September 1, the Nanhai District Museum (including Kang Youwei Museum) extends its opening hours to 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM from Tuesday to Sunday (last entry at 4:30 PM) and is closed on Mondays.


Nanhai District Museum


Situated at Xiqiao Mountain in Nanhai District, Foshan, the museum is surrounded by scenic landscapes, historical sites, and fish ponds, offering an elegant and natural environment. The museum has seven permanent exhibition halls, covering topics such as "Memories of Nanhai," "Heroes of Nanhai," "Museum Collections of Paintings and Calligraphy," "Lingnan Culture," "The Stones of Xiqiao Mountain," "Shijingyi's Collection," and "Family Traditions of Shijingyi," with a total exhibition area of about 3,700 square meters.



Kang Youwei Museum


Located in Sucun, Danzao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan, this museum complex includes Kang Youwei's Former Residence, Kang Youwei Museum, and the Nanhai Guild Hall. The museum features exhibits on Kang Youwei's life and the Nanhai Guild Hall hosts displays on the history of the guild and famous scholars from Nanhai.



Shunde District


From now until September 1, the Shunde District Museum extends its opening hours to 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM from Tuesday to Sunday (last entry at 5:00 PM) and is closed on Mondays.


Shunde District Museum



Located in the Desheng Cultural Plaza in Daliang New Town, Shunde, the museum features permanent exhibitions such as "Shunde People, Shunde Stories," "The Path of Progress – Shunde's Development Achievements," "Shunde Overseas Chinese Museum," "Bruce Lee Exhibition Hall," and "Cantonese Opera and Quyi Exhibition Hall."


This summer, visitors can also explore special exhibitions like the "Shunde Mulberry Fish Pond Culture Exhibition," "Treasures of Shunde Museum," and the "Porcelain Light and Jade Charm – China Dehua Kiln World Heritage Cultural Exhibition Tour (Shunde Station)."
