Foshan, a national historical and cultural city in the Greater Bay Area, has long been the birthplace of Lingnan patent medicine. Since the Ming and Qing dynasties, Foshan patent medicine brands have mushroomed. Originated from Foshan, Liang Zhong Hong, Feng Liao Xing, Yuan Ji Lin, Wong Cheung Wah and many other medicine brands are highly appreciated in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao regions and even Southeast Asian countries. These precious cultural heritages have become an important cornerstone of the development of modern Foshan traditional Chinese medicine.
Chen Weiliang, a famous Guangdong doctor of traditional Chinese medicine at the age of 86, still insists on teaching the traditional "eight methods of bone-setting" orthopedic treatment techniques to young doctors in Foshan every week.
In order to inherit this valuable cultural heritage, a documentary series "Historical Documents: Traditional Chinese Medicine Stories in Foshan" made an official release on August 14. It was produced by the CPPCC of Foshan and Foshan News and Media Center. During creation, the film crew spent ten months across many regions in Foshan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Macao and Malaysia at home and abroad, went deep into the mountains and forests, visited hundreds of famous doctors and their descendants, and traveled nearly 20,000 kilometers. Through in-depth interviews, it records and reproduces the historical features, key characters, benchmark brands and current development of Lingnan Traditional Chinese Medicine, encouraging more people to understand and pay attention to the historical value and unique charm of Lingnan Traditional Chinese medicine in this way.
The documentary series is consist of five episodes, "Famous in the World", "Like Dew and Wind", "Foshan Traditional Medicine", "The Best of Bonesetting", "Ruyi Oil", each of which lasts 15 minutes. After the release of the documentary series on August 14, it will be broadcast on both TV channels and Internet platforms in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao regions and Malaysia, Vietnam and some Southeast Asian countries.

On the basis of inheritance for a century, Foshan's traditional Chinese medicine industry make achievement in innovation and development. 34 large and medium-sized pharmaceutical companies of Chinese medicine gathered in Foshan, which realizes the industrialization of Chinese medicine with market advantages. A number of excellent hospitals have established 5G+ orthopaedic robot surgery application centers and training bases, which ranks first in the total number of surgeries in the national traditional Chinese medicine system. Foshan also built the only pharmaceutical and health industrial park in the Greater Bay Area, which was recently selected as the national "Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation Development Pilot Zone".

Ke Zhong, deputy director of Traditional Chinese Medicine Bureau of Guangdong, believes that the release of the documentray has far-reaching significance for promoting the development of Lingnan traditional Chinese medicine. He hoped that Foshan continues to strengthen the construction of a powerful city of traditional Chinese medicine, demonstrate in high-quality urban health development, and promote Foshan's traditional Chinese medicine to innovate and grow with new vitality.
