On August 26, the results of the 2024-2025 Annual Recommended Products Review for the "China's Gift Industry Promotion Plan" was announced. Foshan Jiangmanyan Cultural Communication Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Jiangmanyan") stood out among more than 3,000 products nationwide. As a company originated from the birthplace of Xiangyun Silk in Xiqiao, Nanhai, Jiangmanyan has been recognized in the list for two consecutive years, also been the only Xiangyun Silk enterprise from Foshan, and even the entire country on the list.
On September 15, the China Gift Industry Development Forum, a key event of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), will be held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Jiangmanyan has been invited to attend the forum and will present a fashion show featuring their "Five Elements" series products of Xiangyun Silk.
The Xiangyun Silk Five Elements Bag Series uses the five colors corresponding to the Chinese Five Elements: black (earth), white (water), red (fire), green (wood), and yellow (metal). The bags are made with a combination of Xiangyun Silk and genuine leather, crafted entirely by hand into fashionable handbags.
The Xiangyun Silk "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" series includes items such as eye masks, makeup bags, and jewelry boxes, creatively expressing the famous painting on Xiangyun Silk fabric and embodying Eastern aesthetics. Last year, Jiangmanyan's "Five Lakes and Four Seas" Xiangyun Silk scarf series was the only product from Foshan to be selected as a "China's Gift." This year, the company has once again earned the honor, gaining widespread attention and praise.
Xiangyun Silk, originally named "Liangsha" and formerly known as "Xiangyunsha," got its name from the rustling sound it makes when walking. It is the world's only silk fabric that combines plant dyeing with mineral dyeing. Known as "soft gold" for its high value, it is famous in the textile world as "an ounce of gold for an ounce of silk."
The dyeing and finishing technique for Xiangyun Silk is a national intangible cultural heritage. It involves dyeing raw silk fabric with Chinese medicinal plant yam, unique to Guangdong, and then sun-drying it. With a history of 1,700 years, the fabric is resistant to corrosion and insects, and it is soft, lightweight, breathable, and sweat-resistant.
According to historical records, the birthplace of Xiangyun Silk is Minlelin Village in Xiqiao, Nanhai, which earned Foshan the reputation of producing "the finest silk in Foshan, surpassing even Nanjing, Suzhou and Hangzhou."
Jiangmanyan's Xiqiao Mountain Xiangyun Silk Cultural Museum is located in the core area of the "World Heritage Irrigation Project" Sangyuanwei, within the Yuegeng Yuyun Cultural Tourism Park. With the recreated scene of mulberry farming and silk weaving from thousands of years ago, this museum has attracted tons of Chinese artists and famous actress Kara Wai to visit.
