On September 20, Foshan University held a symposium on the construction of high-level universities, and hosted an unveiling ceremony marking its official renaming.
On May 29, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China approved the renaming of Foshan University of Science and Technology to Foshan University in Chinese.

Foshan University originated from Foshan Teachers College and the Foshan Branch of South China Agricultural College, both established in 1958. With a 66-year history, it has become a high-level university in Guangdong Province, focusing on key discipline construction. The university holds the right to confer master's degrees and is approved as a doctoral degree-granting institution under development. It currently has three campuses: Xianxi, Jiangwan, and Hebin.
