Guangzhou has issued a series of measures to facilitate entry at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to optimize the payment process, visa service, and customs clearance for overseas buyers attending the coming 135th Canton Fair.

The 135th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, is scheduled to open on April 15th. Guangzhou, the capital city of south China's Guangdong Province, has been welcoming merchants and guests from around the world.

Streamline payment process

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport unveiled its "Optimizing Payment Demonstration Zone" on March 28. The zone will provide more accessible and diversified payment services for foreign visitors to Guangzhou to facilitate their business, work, travel, and living in the provincial capital city.

"So far, Baiyun Airport has set up seven currency exchange sites. We have also set up a payment service information desk at the international arrival hall for foreign visitors, equipped with phone card sales services. These information desks work to guide inbound passengers to open domestic electronic payment tools," said a staff member of Baiyun Airport.

Optimize entry measures

Foreign personnel arriving at Baiyun Airport who are in urgent need of non-diplomatic and official activities in Guangzhou but fail to apply for visas abroad can apply to port visa authorities for entry by presenting invitation letters or other relevant certification materials.

The international arrival hall has also set up an entry visa office and a site for temporary entry permit applications, offering an immigration management hotline service online, which is 12367, for 24 hours a day to answer passengers' visa-free policy consultation.

Get Canton Fair Buyer Badges within five minutes

As the first phase of the 135th session of the Canton Fair will kick off on April 15, according to a staff member of China Foreign Trade Center, overseas buyers attending the fair can get the Buyer Badge in less than five minutes when they arrive at the designated point in the terminal, so that buyers can avoid queuing for a long time at the on-site registration point of the Canton Fair Complex to handle Buyer Badges.

In 2024, Baiyun Airport will set up six service sites for handling Buyer Badges, and the number of Buyer Badges available is expected to increase by 30 percent. These sites will also be equipped with supporting services such as phone card sales. Overseas buyers who hold foreign passports, mainland travel permits for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents can apply for Canton Fair Overseas Buyer Badges at Baiyun Airport.
