People from various industries share their stories about National Games in Guangzhou

On May 6, a presentation about the 15th National Games was held at the Guangzhou Library. Representatives from various industries shared their stories about the National Games with the audience.

Liu Silin, a teacher in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City, told the story of the volleyball team of Beishan Primary School in Haizhu District, Guangzhou City. The coach of this volleyball team, Huang Weijian, led hundreds of students to practice volleyball from scratch in an urban village primary school that was converted from an ancestral hall. He has persisted in this job for 17 years and has built a team with excellent skills. "For seventeen years, I have been doing this to help children realize their volleyball dreams," Huang Weijian said.


Liu Silin said that so far, the Beishan Primary School volleyball team has won 25 championships, and more than 30 players have been selected into provincial, municipal, and university professional teams. The school has also been rated as a characteristic school for Chinese youth campus volleyball.

Liu Jiaxi, who is from Hong Kong SAR, is currently studying in the fourth year at Jinan University and is also a martial arts athlete. In 2022, Liu Jiaxi represented Jinan University in the martial arts competition of the Guangdong University Games. In the exciting competition field, he was moved by the service of the volunteers.


"They are volunteers, busy in every corner of the stadium, whether they are guiding the audience, assisting athletes, maintaining order, or providing consultation. Their considerate service deeply moved me, and I also want to become a professional volunteer," Liu said. So Liu registered as a volunteer as a Hong Kong youth. He also called on everyone to join him as volunteers for the 15th National Games and participate in this sports meeting in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

World speed skating champion Lin Xue also shared her career story with everyone. More than ten years ago, Lin Xue started skating training in her hometown of Jiamusi, Heilongjiang. In the 2016-2017 season, she won the women's 500m championship at the Speed Skating Youth World Cup in the Netherlands. Later, a serious injury kept her away from the competition, but she gritted her teeth and persisted in rehabilitation training and finally returned to the competition, ending her career successfully with the result of winning the 500-meter women's championship in the World Cup in Norway.
