Shenzhen railway's operator has announced plans to suspend nearly 260 trains on the Shenzhen-Hangzhou High-speed Railway today due to Typhoon Gaemi, which is expected to make landfall along the southeastern coast of China.

Eastern Guangdong Province will be affected by Gaemi, prompting the operator to suspend all trains to Meizhou, Shantou, Xiamen, and Wenzhou. Some trains will not travel beyond Chaoshan Station.

"Passengers can take trains to Chaoshan Station, but services will not extend further to stations such as Shantou, Meizhou West, and Xiamen North," according to Liu Zhenwen from the passenger transportation department of Shenzhen Railway.

Gaemi, the third typhoon of the year and the first super typhoon of the season, was upgraded to a super typhoon at 8 a.m. yesterday. As of yesterday morning, Gaemi was approximately 225 kilometers southeast of Taiwan and moving at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Fujian Province today after passing through Taiwan last night.

On July 24th, the railway operator said that it would adjust train schedules based on the trajectory of Gaemi and resume service as soon as conditions allow.

Shanwei and Chaoshan stations have implemented emergency plans to mitigate the impact of the typhoon.
