On October 6, the "2024 Jun'an Guandi Houwang Folk Tourism and Culture Festival" series of events took place in Shunde District, Foshan. During the event, the parade team set off from the Sanhua Emperor King Temple and will tour various villages (communities) in Jun'an over the next 17 days. This year's activities also incorporated performances of Yingge Dance, Cantonese Opera, and martial arts, attracting numerous spectators.
On October 6, the Jun'an Guandi Houwang Folk Tourism and Culture Festival series of events kicked off.
At the event, the Sanhua Emperor King Temple was bustling with crowds. As the sounds of firecrackers, gongs, and cheers filled the air, the parade officially commenced. Large groups of local residents gathered with drums, escorting the "Guandi" and "Houwang" sedan chairs through the streets. Along the route, vendors set up stalls offering various foods and beverages to welcome the parade, while citizens eagerly took photos and shared their experiences, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. The parade will continue for 17 days, visiting not only the Sanhua community but also villages such as Shatou, Cangmen, and Xinhua.
October 6 is the fourth day of the ninth lunar month, and around noon, the "Guandi Houwang" parade was held in Jun'an.

The "Guandi Houwang Parade" is a century-old folk tradition in Jun'an and is recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage. This year, the series of events includes Yingge dance, Cantonese opera, and martial arts, adding more highlights to the event. People can immerse themselves in five major Jun'an cultural: loyalty culture, Cantonese opera culture, martial arts culture, food culture, and craftsmanship culture.
