2024 Paddy Field Marathon Kicks Off in Gaoming, Foshan

On November 17, as the starting gun fired and colorful smoke rose into the sky, the 2024 Foshan Gaoming Paddy Field Marathon officially kicked off in Gaoming District.



Athletes surged out from the starting line, racing ahead with energy. The air was filled with cheers, shouts, and calls of encouragement as the excitement reverberated across Gaoming.



The 2024 Foshan Gaoming Paddy Field Marathon is not only the first full marathon in Guangdong in the second half of the year, but also the province's only paddyfield-themed marathon. It holds the distinction of being the earliest marathon to start in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attracting over 10,000 runners from across the country.

This year, the Foshan Gaoming Paddy Field Marathon has undergone a major upgrade. For the first time, it features a full marathon (42.195 km), alongside the half marathon (21.0975 km) and a fun run (5.2 km), creating a rich event lineup to meet the needs of different runners.



The marathon route is meticulously planned, making use of Gaoming's distinctive ecological advantages. At the core of the course is the "Golden Race Track" through the ten-mile paddy fields, offering a unique opportunity to experience the picturesque rural landscapes of Lingnan region.



The starting point is set at Sucun, with the full marathon finishing at Midea Egret Lake Forest Resort, the half marathon finishing at the vast paddy fields in Mingcheng Town, and the fun run concluding at the Gaoming Sports Center. Runners enjoy the captivating change from urban landscapes to rural beauty, witnessing the development successes in Gaoming.



Leveraging its rich cultural and tourism resources, the Marathon also featured a Cultural Heritage Experience Zone, a "Gaoming Cuisine" and "Gaoming Featured Products" display area, and a local "Rice Noodle Feast", offering visitors a chance to taste authentic local delicacies.
