Foshan recently released its investment attraction data for the first quarter of 2023, with total signed investments reaching 143.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 60.57%. Among them there are six 10-billion-level projects, with the highest single project investment exceeding 23.8 billion yuan. Foshan has set a new record no matter on the total investment, the number of 10-billion-level projects, or the highest investment amount of a single project.
In the first quarter, Foshan attracted six 10-billion-level projects, such as the FAW-VW project, with signed investment of nearly 100 billion yuan. These projects reflect a trend towards upgrading and modernizing high-end industries. From the perspective of industry type, those projects are all in strategic emerging industries such as new energy storage, new materials, and new energy vehicles, which have a strong leading role in the whole industrial chain.
This result is inseparable from the efforts of government. Since the beginning of this year, leaders of various departments in Foshan have been seizing the opportunities to attract investment. The main leaders of Foshan Party Committee led a team to visit the target enterprises for investment promotion in Beijing and attracted an intentional investment of over 50 billion yuan. The main leaders of the municipal government also introduced Foshan at the Guangdong special promotion event, resulting in a total investment of over 23.4 billion yuan. The leaders’ efforts released a clear signal that Foshan has been vigorously focusing on industries, projects, and development.
In addition, the performance in investment attraction is also inseparable from the first-class business environment created by Foshan government. Recently, Foshan has been implementing the approval agency service mechanism for major industrial investment projects, and this innovative mechanism has simplified approval procedures, enabling projects to be quickly implemented. Foshan, which always strives to be the first, is creating a first-class business environment with the greatest sincerity.
