Recently, according to "Decision on the 24th China Patent Award" released by China National Intellectual Property Administration, Foshan ranks third in Guangdong province with 33 patent awards, including one China Patent Gold Award, one China Design Silver Award, 28 China Patent Excellence Awards, and three China Design Excellence Awards.

NATIONSTAR in Foshan, a high-tech enterprise with professional capability in manufacturing LED components and LED application products, won the China Patent Gold Award for its invention patent of "A Full-color Light Emitting Device and Display Module". This is the second time that a Foshan company has won the gold award after Midea Group won the gold award in the 21st China Patent Award. Meanwhile, it is also the first time that a Foshan company has won the gold award as the first right holder. Foshan and Shenzhen are the only two cities in Guangdong Province that won the China Patent Gold Award this year.

According to statistics, Foshan's award-winning projects cover all five districts, with Shunde District ranking first with 15 awards. Other districts have maintained a good development trend, with Nanhai District winning seven awards, Chancheng District winning six, Sanshui District winning four, and Gaoming District winning four awards. Among them, Chancheng District won its first China Patent Gold Award, achieving a remarkable breakthrough.

In terms of industrial distribution, in addition to the mainstay industries such as home appliances and equipment manufacturing, there are 17 invention patents coming from strategic emerging industries, accounting for more than 50%. Strategic emerging industries such as robotics, energy conservation and environmental protection, new materials, and new energy are rising rapidly. In terms of enterprises, high-tech, large-scale, and specialized new enterprises have achieved new breakthroughs in their award-winning patents, among which, there are 26 high-tech enterprises, 10 specialized new enterprises, and two large-scale enterprises. As for patent holders, Foshan enterprises account for 84.85%, far higher than the national average of 75.45%, indicating the high independent innovation capability of Foshan enterprises.

This also highlights city's efforts to promote the coordinated development of intellectual property and technological innovation, cultivate emerging industries, strengthen core technology research and development, and promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing towards "intelligent manufacturing" and "creative manufacturing".

The China Patent Award is considered a benchmark for high-value patents. So far, Foshan has won 364 China Patent Awards, ranking among the top in the province in terms of quantity and quality. Foshan will take this as an opportunity to actively integrate various high-quality resources, and strive to create a new benchmark for high-quality development of intellectual property supporting manufacturing. Next, Foshan will improve the four-level linkage working mechanism across the province, cities, districts and towns, accelerate the construction of the demonstration city of strong intellectual property rights, and support the transformation and upgrading of Foshan with high-quality intellectual property development.
