On October 8, the China-Myanmar Jade Cultural Exchange, as well as the 3rd Anniversary Celebration of the Pingzhou TikTok E-commerce Live Streaming Base, took place in Pingzhou, Foshan, where is often addressed as the "Home of Chinese Jade Bracelets".
The event primarily focused on the high-quality growth and upgrading of the jade e-commerce industry in Pingzhou, Foshan. It covered a wide range of topics, including jade cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar, the digital transformation and modernization of Foshan's jewelry and jade industry, and the overall ecosystem of the jade e-commerce sector. Several experts and prominent figures from various industries were invited to share valuable advice and insights regarding the future development plans for Pingzhou's jade industry, leading to in-depth discussions.
Pingzhou, located in Nanhai District, Foshan, is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Jade Bracelets". Although it doesn't produce jade itself, it has become the largest trading center for Myanmar jadeite in China. Over the years, Pingzhou jade jewelry town has achieved significant milestones, including being the domestic leader for jadeite trading and jade bracelet production, and being a 4A-level national jade culture tourism area in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It's also the first jade industry hub with a rail station and hosts the nation's inaugural official jadeite market.
After three years of relentless development, the Pingzhou TikTok Base has steadily increased its daily Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) from over 3 million to now over 70 million, reaching a peak of over 100 million GMV in a single day. In 2022, member units of the Guicheng Jewelry and Jade E-commerce Association collectively generated over 10 billion yuan in transaction volume across various e-commerce platforms such as TikTok, Taobao, and Kuaishou.
This influential market position and flourishing industry cluster has attracted Myanmar Ambassador to China, Wu Dingmao Rui, and Myanmar delegation to come and conduct research and inspection.
On the afternoon of October 8, Myanmar Ambassador to China, Wu Dingmao Rui, and a delegation from Myanmar visited various locations in the Pingzhou Jade Jewelry Town, including the QIC integrated center, quality inspection facilities, and logistics warehouses. They gained a comprehensive understanding of the crucial aspects of the jade jewelry e-commerce live streaming industry chain.
Pieces of jade sold during live broadcasts, are transported to the QIC integrated center. Here, the jade would be assigned a unique "identity card", which precisely records every step and progress it has been through. This meticulous process guarantees the quality and authenticity of the jade, providing consumers with a reliable assurance.
During the Sino-Myanmar Jade Cultural Exchange Meeting, U Nay Linn from Myanmar National Jewelry Association expressed surprise at the positive impact of internet live streaming on jade sales. He noted that consumers can now purchase jade products online with confidence and quality assurance, which is an unbelievable development since before.
U Nay Linn also praised the quality control and product authentication, also the logistics services at the integrated QIC center. He said, "The TikTok QIC integrated center achieves full digital monitoring of jade from the raw material to final delivery, marking the digitization of jade sales in China. The entire transaction process is secure and traceable, which is significant for expanding the market and improving sales efficiency in the jade industry".
