Foshan Port Achieves Milestone as Guangdong's First Inland Port Exceeding 100 mln-ton Capacity

Foshan Port was recognized as the first inland port with over 100 million-ton tonnage in Guangdong. In 2023, Foshan Port made extensive efforts in scale expansion, intelligentization, efficiency improvement and environment protection. With a year-on-year increase of 19.2%, Foshan Port has successfully achieved 102 million tons of cargo handling capacity.



Foshan Port is recognized as one of 36 major inland ports in China, also plays an crucial role in the comprehensive transportation system in the Pearl River Delta Region. From 2006 to 2023, Foshan Port has achieved a steady growth in cargo handling capacity, from 4.417 million tons to 102 million tons. It now become one important port in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, also a firm support for Foshan's economy.



Foshan has achieved outstanding achievements in improving the comprehensive strength of ports. For instantly, Shunde New Port (Phase II) is currently undergone construction, which is expected to become the largest inland industrial port in Pearl Rive Delta Region. Additionally, 3 ports were integrated, 17 ports were terminated and 9 ports were upgraded with digitization.


Notably, Foshan Port has adopted innovative customs clearance patterns "One Port Access in GBA" "Combined Port" to improve logistics efficiency. Nowadays, 11 ports in Foshan have synchronized with Shekou Port (Shenzhen) and Nansha Port (Guangzhou), which has reduced the shipping time from over 5 days to 2 days only, realizing 60% increase in efficiency. In 2023, over 320.2 thousand cargoes have been shipped via these new operation pattern.
