On March 18, the project of the Shenzhen Qingyi Photomask Limited. (hereinafter referred to as "Qingyi") flat panel display and semiconductor photomask production base (Nanhai, Foshan), with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan, officially commenced construction.

Qingyi is one of the earliest and largest domestic manufacturers of photomasks. The company's products have repeatedly broken foreign monopolies and filled domestic gaps, placing it in a leading position in China's photomask industry. The per-mu fixed asset investment sets a record for the intensity of fixed asset investment in industrial projects in Foshan, effectively filling the industrial gap in the field of semiconductor photomasks in Nanhai.

Currently, Nanhai has 14 industrial clusters with output values exceeding 20 billion yuan, capital scales exceeding 10 billion yuan, providing corresponding chains of innovation, industrial, capital, policy, talent, and land support for the development of the information equipment industry in Nanhai.

Wu Keqiang, director and general manager of Qingyi, explained that Foshan is an important industrial base in China, with a complete industrial chain and superior geographical location. Besides, Nanhai is one of the small and medium-sized cities with rapid economic development in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong in the 1980s. Therefore, choosing to build a production base in Nanhai is an important decision made after careful consideration by Qingyi.

"This project is not only an important strategic layout for the development of Qingyi but also a manifestation of our confidence in the future development of the country." Tang Jiasheng, director of Qingyi and executive director of Peninsula Knitting Factory Limited said that currently, the global flat panel displayer and semiconductor markets have broad prospects, and he believed that the Nanhai production base would become a first-class industry production base in China, and contribute to the progress of flat panel display and semiconductor industry in China and even the world.

Currently, Nanhai is accelerating the construction of three major hundred-billion-yuan industrial clusters in information equipment manufacturing, hydrogen energy and hydrogen-ammonia fusion equipment manufacturing, and intelligent security and emergency industries.

In recent years, Nanhai has introduced projects such as Xinyang Technology, HIIC SEMI, and Honhor Semiconductor, and has nurtured enterprises such as Huate Gas, Halo Microelectronics, PowerTECH, and Fozhixin Microelectronics, covering materials, design, and packaging and testing in the semiconductor industry. Nanhai's semiconductor industry has initially formed a "small but refined" development model.
