Chancheng Floats and Foshan Kung-fu staged at the Spring Festival Celebration in London

The Spring Festival Celebration by London Chinatown Chinese Association was grandly held on Feb. 10th (the sixth day of the first lunar year). Chancheng elements such as floats, dragon & lion dance and martial art became the spotlight of the celebration, which shows Lingnan culture to overseas people.

   

The Spring Festival Celebration in London is the largest one in the world besides the ones in Asia. More than 700,000 audience from all over the world enjoyed wonderful activities like dragon and lion dance, float tour and so on.

   

The float tour started from 10:00 and the stage performances lasted from 12:00 to 18:00. The parade departed from Trafalgar Square at 10:00, passed Charing Cross Street and ended on Sasbury Avenue. There were also lion eye-dotting ceremony and firecracker performance in Trafalgar Square.

    

In such a lively and festive scene, Chancheng elements became an outstanding view in the parade team. Foshan Chancheng Association of UK Medway China showed the world eight floats from Chancheng during the parade and the dragon dance team also attracted a lot of people. Foshan elements such as Guangdong Opera, ceramics, Kung-fu, Nanfeng Ancient Kiln, Ancestral Temple, Liangs Garden and so on were introduced during the tour so that Lingnan traditional culture could once again appear on the world stage.

   

Before the event, Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau of Chancheng District and Culture and Sports Bureau of Chancheng District worked together for preparations. After elaborate planning and organizing, the Spring Festival Celebration in London, UK once again successfully improves the influence of Foshan culture in the world.
