In the coming month, Foshan will hold more than 30 exciting events such as intangible lectures, boutique exhibitions and so on to share the cultural heritage protection results with Foshan citizens.

Chen Xinwen, director of Foshan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, said in his speech that the construction of the Foshan Museum has achieved periodical results over the passed year. As of April this year, there are 128 museums and 81 art museums in Foshan, and the number has exceeded the target expectations. From the point of view of utility, in 2018, Foshans museums and art museums held nearly 300 exhibitions. Special exhibitions themed with Shiwan Ceramics, Woodcut New Year pictures and so on were exhibited in key state-owned museums of Shanghai, Chengdu, and Zhoushan, which has effectively strengthened regional cultural exchanges. In addition, Foshan held nearly 1,500 social and educational activities, enriching the supply of public cultural services throughout the city.

“Foshan Traditional Culture Symbol Database” prepared by the Foshan Municipal Museum was launched on the same day. The project can carry out modeling and pattern extraction of representative traditional buildings, cultural relics and traditional art, martial arts and folklore in Foshan. From the tens of thousands of physical photos, it will extract about 300 elements to  construct the database. At present, the first phase of the database has been completed, including “traditional architecture” and “traditional building components and decoration”. The public can log into the Foshan Museum official website and click on the “Foshan Traditional Culture Symbol Database” to watch and download beautiful paintings about Foshan traditional culture.

On the same day, Nanhai Museum also held an exhibition themed with “Rhyme of Guangdong tea”, which exhibited more than 100 pieces (sets) of ceramics, silverware, auxiliary exhibits and modern tea packaging, so that the audience can have a deeper understanding of the Guangdong tea culture.
