In the afternoon of June 13, the press conference to promote the construction of Cantonese cuisine chef “1+5” projects was held in Foshan. It proposed to focus on building a world-renowned "City of Cantonese Cuisine and Chef" and to implement the Cantonese cuisine chef “1+5” projects, promoting the brand of Foshan cuisine from five aspects, namely, the training of catering talents, the construction of catering experience facilities, the supply of raw materials, the strategy of going out and the integration of culture, tourism and cuisine.
Input 100 million yuan annually for 3 years to build "City of Cantonese Cuisine and Chef"
According to the series of plans issued at the conference, Foshan will implement the Cantonese cuisine chef “1+5” projects in three years, and the municipal finance will invest 100 million yuan annually for three consecutive years to support the projects. By 2021, the total retail sales of catering industry in the city will reach 50 billion yuan with an average annual growth of about 10%. The total revenue of tourism industry will exceed 100 billion yuan with an average annual growth of about 10%. More than 60 million visitors will be received throughout the year.
Meanwhile, Foshan will make every effort to build more than 8 food gathering blocks and a museum of Cantonese cuisine culture; nurture more than 15 leading catering enterprises with an annual turnover of over 50 million yuan, more than 8 national diamond-class restaurants, 30 famous Cantonese chefs, 10 training bases for "Cantonese cuisine chefs" and 20 master studios for "Cantonese cuisine chefs" in Foshan. The projects will add more than 6 leading agricultural enterprises of edible agricultural products at the municipal level, 3 new "vegetable basket" bases, 6 new agricultural brands, 1 extended edible agricultural product base in the counterpart support poverty alleviation areas, and formulate a number of standards (norms) for the famous dishes with Lingnan characteristics in Foshan among Guangdong cuisine associations (groups).
Implement 5 key projects to arouse Foshan cuisine popularity
In order to give full play to Foshan’s advantages, promote the popularity of “Lingnan Taste and Foshan Food”, and accelerate the integration of catering industry and its upstream and downstream industries, Foshan will comprehensively implement five key projects, the “Foshan Chef” Cantonese cuisine chef training project, "Foshan Taste" Cantonese food experience project, "Foshan Fresh Ingredient" quality Cantonese food ingredients project, "Foshan Cuisine Global Show" Cantonese cuisine and chefs going out project, “Foshan Tour of Gourmet” culture-tourism-catering integrated development project in the integration of cultural tourism and catering development project.
The “Foshan Chef” Cantonese cuisine chef training project will focus on catering talent training. It plans to train more than 3,000 Cantonese cuisine masters every year. By the end of 2021, 30 famous Cantonese cuisine chefs will be selected, 10 training bases for "Cantonese cuisine chef" will be established, and 20 "Cantonese cuisine chef" master studios will be established.
The "Foshan Taste" Cantonese food experience project will focus on creating Cantonese food agglomeration area, encouraging catering enterprises to enter large commercial centers and communities, and supporting the brand development and characteristic innovation of catering enterprises. Five districts in Foshan will work together to create more than 10 food gathering areas with distinctive features and first-class service.
The "Foshan Fresh Ingredient" quality Cantonese food ingredients project will promote the key work of cultivating the main body of edible agricultural products, supporting the development of extended agricultural production bases, nurturing and popularizing agricultural brands, and strengthening the traceability of product sources.
The "Foshan Cuisine Global Show" Cantonese cuisine and chefs going out project will carry out exchanges and cooperation across the country, the countries along the "Belt & Road", and even around the world to spread Cantonese cuisine, Cantonese cuisine chefs and Lingnan gourmet. Among them, Foshan provides subsidies for local catering enterprises to set up branches in other cities (such as Shanghai, Beijing and other large cities abroad); Foshan chefs can also enjoy corresponding incentives to work abroad (such as agencies stationed abroad).
The “Foshan Tour of Gourmet” culture-tourism-catering integrated development project is devoted to speeding up the construction of catering carriers, strengthening the promotion of Cantonese cuisine culture, creating brand activities of Cantonese cuisine and tourism, and developing elite tour routes of Cantonese cuisine. Foshan will focus on creating several classic brand activities of Cantonese cuisine, such as Foshan Food Tour, Hong Kong-Foshan Festival and Macao-Foshan Festival.
