On August 10, Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of Ministry of Science and Technology of China (hereinafter referred to as "Torch Center") has unveiled the "Pilot (Cultivation) List of Innovation-oriented Industrial Clusters for 2021", where Foshan smart home industrial cluster was included, as submitted by Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, along with the other three in Guangdong Province. In a long run, the inclusion gives a strong boost to local smart home industry.
The certification echoes with Chinas mission to build 100 national-level innovation-oriented industrial clusters. Through close scrutiny by the Torch Center, 43 industrial clusters across the country were selected as national pilot projects.
Tons of famous brands settled in Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone
"Where there is a home, there are products made in Foshan." With a strong track record over decades, Foshan has earned a sound reputation as a highland of home furnishing industry. Here, products such as home appliances, furniture, ceramic building materials are shipped to the rest of China and other countries. Brands like Midea, Hisense, Weishang, Mona Lisa have long become household names.
In recent years, propelled by the wave of digital upgrading, home furnishing industry in Foshan has transitioned from a "solid traditional industry" to a "smart home industrial cluster", when a group of emerging enterprises (including Xiaoxiong Electric, Yunmi Electric, Lins Wooden Furniture, and Hulton) feature a wider array of product lines, leads new technological trends and taps into huge market potentials.
To this date, Foshan has formed characteristic innovative industrial clusters, underpinned by pillar industries such as home appliances, ceramic sanitary ware and furniture, and featured industries such as smart lighting, smart door locks and smart security monitoring, and also supported by research institutes and platforms that provides Industrial Internet and smart manufacturing services.
Statically, in 2020, smart home innovation-based industrial cluster in Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone has registered a turnover of 133 billion yuan. The cluster includes 479 enterprises with 395 licensed as high-tech enterprises, over 130 industrial alliances and relevant organizations on supporting R&D services, innovation service, and financial service.
Up next, Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone will seize the piloting project as an exciting opportunity to push ahead with digital and intelligent development in local smart home industry. By 2023, Foshan is expected to build a smart home innovation-based industrial cluster with international influence and develop itself into a "National Manufacturing Innovation Center".
