Foshan takes intelligent manufacturing as the main development direction of industry transformation and upgrading, and proposes Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project(百千万工程) in robot industry. On March 3rd, Secretary of Foshan Municipal Party Committee Lu Yi hosted a symposium on further promoting intelligent manufacturing development based on the actual situation in Foshan. Many manufacturing experts attended the symposium, among who was Zhou Ji, the dean of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

As early as 2015, Foshan cooperated with CAE and set up Foshan Institute of Intelligent Equipment Technology to develop made-in-china robots with independent core technology. Now there are over 800 robots applied and promoted in Foshan. Foshan Huashu Robot Co., Ltd., mentored by CAE, has the production capacity of 2,000 industrial robots every year. It has cooperated with more than 50 enterprises in Foshan in the field of robot procurement and application.

According to the Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Project, Foshan strives to finish the construction of 100 intelligent production lines and put them into use by the end of this year. Meanwhile, Foshan will reach a sales target of 2,000 sets of industrial robots and realize production capacity of 10,000 sets of industrial robots and controllers. These targets cannot be fulfilled without the initial involvement of a large number of local middle and small-sized enterprises. Zhou Ji noted that financial innovation is a big advantage for Foshan to develop intelligent manufacturing. He suggested that besides making small-scale industrial robot integration, Foshan could design large-scale integration covering fields like finance and human resource, offering intelligent equipment manufacturing services peculiar to Foshan.
