On December 23, the press conference of major achievements on Hydrogen-Ammonia Fusion Zero Carbon Combustion Technology was held in Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, announcing the success in the production of first green tile. It is considered as one remarkable momentum of ceramics industry in achieving carbon neutrality.
First zero carbon tile in the world
For ceramics industry, the most essential and effective method to achieve carbon peaking and carbon neutrality is to adopt advanced zero carbon fuel.
On December 27th 2021, Joint Innovation Research and Development Center for Advanced Aero Carbon Combustion Technology (hereinafter referred to as “R&D Center”) was funded by Foshan Xianhu Laboratory, Foshan Oceano Ceramics Co., Ltd. and Foshan DLT Technology Co., Ltd. Targeted at carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, R&D Center strives to innovate zero carbon combustion technology, and promote it to other manufacturing industries.
After one year of effort, on December 18 2022, the trail of Hydrogen-Ammonia Fusion Zero Carbon Combustion Technology was conducted. Powered by ammonia gas, the kiln successfully produced the first green tile with zero carbon emission.
Remarkably, this innovative project has applied for over 30 national patents.
Collaboration between industries and research institutions
As one of the third batch of provincial key laboratories, Foshan Xianhu Laboratory aims at the R&D of hydrogen energy and relevant materials and technologies. With seven supportive platforms and eight specialized sub-laboratories built, it is the key partner of International technology innovation center in the Greater Bay Area.
Nowadays, Foshan Xianhu Laboratory has actively collaborated with multiple ceramics companies and leading companies in metalworking industry, fostering the application of zero carbon combustion technology.
