Today (September 30), the long-awaited Nanhai New Economic Town officially opens. As a demonstration benchmark for high-quality urban-rural integration development, the Economic Town marks a substantive progress of urban renewal in Nanhai.

Nanhai New Economic Town, covering a construction area of more than 220,000 square meters, is positioned as a comprehensive and innovative industrial community combining industry, commerce and research in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The town focuses on three areas, including environment-digital industrialization base, intelligent manufacturing R&D base and dream community. Currently, the first phase construction of the cell library project has been completed, and 6 projects covering high-tech, new materials and other related industries have settled in Foshan Jihua Laboratory.

In the next 2-3 years, aiming to be the industry leader, Nanhai will carry out cooperation with related digital enterprises and service institutes regarding global carbon emissions, and actively introduce top new materials and intelligent manufacturing R&D teams around the world, gathering development momentum for Nanhai to build a new platform for industrial transformation and innovation.

In the next five years, Nanhai New Economic Town is expected to introduce 400-500 enterprises, foster more than 600 patents and introduce 40-60 high-tech enterprises. With an output value reaching 5 billion yuan, the town will provide 50,000 upstream and downstream employment opportunities.
