The Carlsberg's Foshan production base project is undergoing interior decoration and some minor work. Currently, most of the equipment has been installed on site, preparing for the full sprint of production in the second quarter of 2024.

It is a provincial key construction project in 2023, with a total investment of nearly 3 billion yuan. Covering an area of about 167,000 square meters, it includes four new production lines. The project aims to build a world-class brewery with leading technology standards, smart manufacturing and ESG solution.

The Carlsberg Group is the third largest beer company in the world, with more than 140 brands in 150 markets worldwide. The Foshan project will be its twenty-seventh brewery in China and one of the most important production sites in the future.

In November 2022, Carlsberg announced an additional investment of 462 million yuan, and the total investment of the project reached 3 billion yuan, of which the investment in fixed assets was about 1.5 billion yuan. The new investment is mainly used to improve the technology in civil engineering, energy saving and carbon reduction, intelligent manufacturing, and also the procurement of advanced equipment. It provides solid support for the construction of a green, safe, advanced and efficient new modern winery.

The landing of the Carlsberg Foshan project is an example of Foshan's industrial advantage to enhance the magnetic attraction of investment. The project will be located in Foshan Beverage and Food Industrial Park, which is the pioneer project to achieve "water economy" in Sanshui. More than 200 well-known food and beverage enterprises at home and abroad have successively entered the park, including Budweiser, Red Bull, Jianlibao, Coca-Cola, Yakult, Watsons, etc. The industrial form of the park has become more diversified, and has developed into a world-class food and beverage industry gathering area in South China.

In the future, Carlsberg will also set up its first research and development center outside Europe at the Foshan winery to provide new product development, packaging material design and testing services for the Chinese and Asian markets.

The design concept of the winery is compatible with the concept of urban sustainable development, and the "sponge Winery" has become a highlight of the Carlsberg Foshan project.

The most distinctive feature of the "Sponge Distillery" is the rainwater collection and treatment system consisting of four huge underground reservoirs with a total volume of 3,000 cubic meters. After special filtration and purification treatment, the collected rainwater will be reused for plant watering, workshop cleaning and non-process contact production water. It will reduce the consumption of fresh water, also the pollution of wastewater.

Carlsberg Foshan project is also actively exploring the goal of "zero carbon footprint". In accordance with the national three-star green building requirements, the project has selected a large number of recyclable and energy-saving building materials.

Carlsberg's confidence in investing in Foshan comes from Foshan's mature industrial chain advantages and the recognition of Foshan's business environment. From investment promotion to project construction, departments at all levels in urban areas, towns and streets consistently keep track of the project progress and provide useful support.

Until November this year, the Carlsberg Foshan project has achieved the milestone of 1.5 million safe working hours. At the Foshan Key Project Construction Site Promotion Meeting held on December 7, Carlsberg (Foshan) beer production base project was awarded "Foshan 2023 Key project construction model".
