The first phase construction launch ceremony of the South China Hydrogen Energy Industry Base of the State Power Investment Cooperation Hydrogen Energy Co, Ltd (Hereinafter referred to as SPIC HYDROGEN ENERGY) was held in Nanhai, Foshan.

South China Hydrogen Energy Industry Base of the State Power is the only industrial base for the independent development of proton exchange membrane and carbon paper by SPIC HYDROGEN ENERGY in South China. Foshan Green Power Hydrogen Energy Sci-Tech Co, Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPIC HYDROGEN ENERGY TECH, is responsible for the construction and operation. In addition, it puts an emphasize on technological innovation, equipment manufacturing, demonstration application and promotion of carbon paper, membrane materials, fuel cell stacks and systems.

General Manager of SPIC HYDROGEN ENERGY said that the start of the construction marks a new step of the base. SPIC HYDROGEN ENERGY will promote the construction of the base with high standards and high quality, and strive to complete and put into operation as early as possible. The goal is to make greater contributions to the development of Foshan hydrogen energy industry and the green development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In January 2022, the project was officially signed to settle in Nanhai. At present, the base has achieved positive results, completed the construction of the first domestic carbon paper production line with an annual output of 300,000 square meters. Meanwhile, it released two carbon paper products, and the product performance has reached the international advanced level.

The construction of the South China hydrogen energy industry base of the State Power Investment reflects Foshan's vigorous development of hydrogen energy industry. As one of the earliest cities to lay out the hydrogen energy industry in China, Foshan relies on the industrial scale and supporting industrial system that rank among top five in China among. After ten years of intensive cultivation, it has gathered more than 170 hydrogen energy enterprises, and the effectiveness of work has been highly recognized by the relevant national and provincial departments.

In 2021, the Guangdong fuel cell vehicle demonstration city cluster was approved as one of the first demonstration city clusters in the country. It is worth mentioning that Foshan undertook the task of leading the construction. In 2022, Nanhai hydrogen energy industry cluster was selected as the characteristic industrial cluster of middle and small-sized enterprises identified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ,which polishing the brand of Foshan hydrogen energy industry. In May this year, at the 2023 World Hydrogen Technology Conference, Nanhai won the title of "China's hydrogen energy industry city". In a word, Foshan has become an important gathering place and pilot demonstration area for the hydrogen energy industry in the province and even the whole country. Last but not least, it provides rich resources for scientific and technological innovation transformation and enterprise project investment and development in the field of hydrogen energy.
