On September 27, the first Entrepreneur Day & Talent Day was held in Foshan. Foshan is the first prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province to set up an exclusive festival for talents through a legal process. This event is a sincere invitation of a major manufacturing city to global talents.

Sanlongwan Science and Technology City is a strategic platform for Foshan to participate in the development of the GBA and promote the construction of the Guangfo Pole. With its convenient transportation, strong industries, great scientific research platforms, high-level international cooperation, quality urban services and other infrastructures, Sanlongwan Science and Technology City has become a destination for many Chinese and foreign talents to innovate and start their own business.

In recent years, Sanlongwan has carried out a series of measures to attract, foster and retain talents. Attract talents by scientific research teams

The Jihua Laboratory is a representative of Sanlongwan Sci&Tech City’s scientific research platforms. As one of the first four laboratories in Guangdong Province, it is engaged in the fields of advanced manufacturing and science and technology. It is committed to building a scientific research team rooted in Foshan with an international high-end research platform to develop a number of independent and controllable core technologies and drive an emerging innovation-driven industry.

A large number of talents have been gathering here. In Jihua Laboratory, a training mechanism consisting of postgraduate students, doctoral students, post-doctoral students, young talents, professional and technical personnel is formed. 

Data shows that in 2021, Jihua Laboratory introduced the first full-time academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Foshan as well as 15 double-appointed academicians, 38 high-level talents, 239 people with senior titles. In addition, a total of 41 high-end research teams were formed and introduced. The total number of staff reached 1,463, including 906 fixed personnel. The number of full-time personnel accounted for 38% of all provincial laboratories.

More and more young scientific and technological talents are playing the leading role in Sanlongwan Science and Technology City. Jihua Laboratory has specifically set up a youth innovation fund with an annual funding of no less than 15 million yuan, and will give innovative funding support of up to 1 million yuan to eligible innovative projects.

Serve talents by “talents hub”

Since its opening in December last year, the Foshan International Talents Hub (Sanlongwan) (hereinafter referred to as “Talents Hub”) has completed more than 50 consulting and accompanying services with innovative mechanism and precise services, serving more than 30 key enterprises at home and abroad, including over 40 foreigners, effectively improving the business processing and response time, saving considerable costs for international talents.

Unlike traditional government windows and talent service agencies, the Talents Hub always focuses on serving foreign talents and research talents. With the experience of talents as the starting point, it does every small thing for talents by launching one-to-one service, helping talents to settle down and work productively in Foshan.

By providing three major functions of providing places, specialized services and linking resources, the Talents Hub improves the experience of high-level talents coming to Sanlongwan and Foshan for innovation and entrepreneurship, and sets an example for Foshan to create first-class business environment.

Retain talents by green environment

In Sanlongwan Science and Technology City, urban parks of various shapes and themes are scattered all over the city, gradually forming a region-wide park system. The high-speed railway park is an innovative use of the space under the high-speed railway bridge in China. Designed to integrate sports, wetlands, railroad culture and other elements, this urban high-speed rail “oasis” is a good place for people to have fun.

The industry thrives beside green lands and talents live beside water. Ecology and fashion are intertwined, which is the advantage of Sanlongwan to attract talents, serve talents and retain talents.
