On January 15, the inauguration ceremony for the connection system project of the 500kV Maoming Bohe Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (Foshan section) took place in Shishan Town, Nanhai District. The project is set to be completed and operational by October 2024, and upon completion, the associated units will have the capacity to transmit up to 2000 megawatts of electricity to the Pearl River Delta's northwest grid in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This substantial power output aims to meet the demands of the northwest Pearl River Delta region.

The project spans five cities, including Maoming, Yangjiang, Yunfu, Zhaoqing, and Foshan. The Foshan section involves the construction of a new 28-kilometer transmission line and the renovation of a 6.5-kilometer existing line. Within Nanhai District, encompassing Danzao Town and Shishan Town, the new lines of 21 kilometers and the renovated lines of 6.5 kilometers are part of this pivotal project.

In the first three years of the "14th Five-Year Plan," Nanhai District's main power grid successfully launched 18 key projects, including the 220kV Longwan Station and the 110kV Jianye Station. These initiatives strategically addressed urgent load issues in the eastern region of Nanhai, effectively meeting the electricity demands of Foshan's top ten innovative leading characteristic manufacturing industrial parks. A total of 1661 distribution network projects were implemented, significantly enhancing the power supply quality in Nanhai. The average customer outage time decreased from 8 hours per household in 2020 to 0.23 hours per household in 2023. Nanhai's power supply reliability now stands at a world-leading level, providing robust electricity support for the high-quality development of the local economy.

In 2023, Nanhai Power Supply Bureau achieved significant milestones, approving nine main grid projects including the 220kV Dongpo to Lisha, and Lichong. This marked a near-decade high in approved capacity for Nanhai. Nine main grid projects, including the 220kV Longwan Substation, were successfully commissioned, accounting for 40% of Foshan's total. A total of 581 distribution network projects were completed, the highest among the five districts. This effort also contributed to the commissioning of the province's first 100,000-kilowatt independent energy storage station.

In 2024, the Foshan Power Supply Bureau plans to embark on 26 preliminary projects from 2024 to 2025. This includes the commencement of the 500kV Chuting Second Channel, the supporting 220kV transmission line project for the Foshan 500kV Xiongwei Station, and the 110kV Zhoucun Substation and Transmission Project (Foshan Hydrogen Coupling Smart Microgrid Project). These initiatives aim to further meet the increased load demand in Nanhai and empower the high-quality economic development in Nanhai.
