On July 11, Datang Foshan announced its project co-generation of heat and power (CHP) has undergone a full-load trial operation for 168 hours. When the operation starts, the project will power up the city with more secure source of electricity.

The Cogeneration Project, led by Datang Foshan, is a key provincial project. In the first phase, two 400MW gas-steam combined cycle machines will be constructed. By the time it’s done, the annual power generation will reach 3 billion kWh, along with about 2 billion yuan of industrial value.

Essential to the project is its commitment towards clean energy. The project will be built in a heat network. In addiction to electrical supply for Cangjiang Industrial Park and surrounding enterprises, it also helps with the replacement of those small boilers with high pollution and low efficiency in the region. In a long run, it empowers the city to shift its industrial mix and achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.
