The annual subsidies for international talent exchange projects is now open for online application till July 23, according to Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province. Eligible organizations can submit the application through the department’s official website (https://pro.gdstc.gd.gov.cn/egrantweb).
There are three categories of subsidies, two of which support overseas professionals that organize international communication and cooperation through various methods such as online meetings due to the travel restriction caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The category, namely “the silver age experts subsidy (银龄专家)” is open for retired experts outside the Chinese mainland, and will be granted to up to 65 projects, each of which would receive 200,000 RMB. The subsidy aims to support the projects that introduce retired foreign scientists to carry out student and researcher exchange activities in the field of science and technology.
To apply for the subsidy, the organizations are required to assist the foreign experts with work and life services in accordance with relevant policies, including applying for preferential personal income tax subsidies launched in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for the foreign experts.
The subsidy, namely “the overseas high-profiled experts subsidy (海外名师)”, targets incumbent experts, will be granted up to 400 individuals and 30 teams. Each individual project will receive 50,000 RMB while each group project will receive 200,000 RMB. The subsidy aims to support the projects that introduce foreign experts to Guangdong for short-term exchanges and cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education, humanities, health care, culture and art, management and sports.
The following conditions will be taken into consideration for the subsidy application: holding positions equivalent to associate professors or above in well-known overseas universities and research institutes; working in internationally renowned institutions or enterprises in the above-mentioned fields as professional and technical staff or administrative staff.
