December 28 marked the capping of Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre. Representatives from project owners and construction party attended the ceremony and witnessed the historical moment.

The project started in December, 2019. After two years of construction, it is now getting into the decoration and furnishing stage, which is expected to be finished at the end of 2022.

Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre, covering 35,000 square meters, has combined strong Cantonese cultural elements. Various sizes of theaters, cinemas, tea houses and exhibition rooms are ready in the Opera Tower, naturally linking Cantonese opera with Lingnan culture and tourism, which gives citizens and opera lovers one-stop services and immersive experience.

As a new landmark of Cantonese Opera culture, the theatre has connected tangible and intangible cultural heritages to create modern functions with traditional cultural elements. The theatre will be built as a cultural center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, providing high-quality, professional, international and influential consumption ideologies and life experiences.

Foshan Cantonese Opera Theatre will be put into use in hosting activities of opera performances, opera culture broadcasting, cultivation, art exchanges and innovation, which will build it as a leading role in Lingnan culture heritage.
