Coming up today at Foshan Grand Theater is one of the all-time classics - Swan Lake.Artistically, Shanghai Ballet, the performing group, has tried to take things to the next level. Instead of simply replaying the ballet show, the team has adapted and revitalized it with some iconic Chinese influences. Romantic as always, the show to be staged this week will surely give you new art perspectives.

In February 2015, Derek Deane, a guest choreographer of Shanghai Ballet and former artistic director of the English National Ballet, choreographed the classic version of Swan Lake. On the basis of the original British version, the number of swans in the second and fourth acts was increased from 24 to 48, and the dances were also modified accordingly.

In addition to a large group of swans, classic dances such as the swan princess and princes love pas de deux, the stately palace waltz, the light and happy four cygnets dance, and the black Swan pas de deux will be presented. In particular, in the famous black swan solo in the third act of Swan Lake, the black swan will do 32 pirouettes called "whip turns" at one go.
