Today, let’s tell you about the historical story of Shiwan pottery.
Shiwan Foshan, well known with its ceramics industry is home to characteristic pottery, and it enjoys a reputation of "Shiwan Ceramics, Best in the World".
The earliest records of Shiwan pottery can be traced back to the Beiqiu site in the Neolithic period. In 1977, a large number of geometric printed pottery pieces were unearthed at Hedang Beiqiu Site in Shiwan, proving that Shiwan has a history of 5000 years for making pottery.
In 2006, Shiwan pottery craft was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
