Founded in 1836 by Chan Heung (陳享), Choy Lee Fut is a kind of Chinese Kung Fu style. It contains a wide variety of martial arts techniques from various northern and southern Chinese Kung Fu systems, including long and short range punches, kicks, sweeps and take downs, pressure point attacks, joint locks, and grappling.

During the event, two masters from theChoy Lee Fut Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe first performed a lion dance on high stilts over the water. The "lion" jumped on the stilts in an awe-inspiring appearance, winning bursts of applause. Then other attendees took turns hopping onto the stage and practicing with different kinds of traditional Chinese weapons.
