On November 27, the Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center released the list of 2023 Guangdong intangible cultural heritage souvenirs. There are 100 souvenirs in total, with 11 souvenirs from Foshan.
The 11 products include Yueyun Plum Wine, Dexin Zhai Bundled Trotter, Mang Gong Cake, Shunde Hongqingya White Wine, Haitian Soybean Paste, Xiqiao cake, Daliang Butterfly-shaped Fried Cookie, Gongxinglong Sesame Cake, 《Yenuan Huaming》Xiangyun Silk Scarf, Cane Woven Basket, Lingnan Lion Dance series cultural and creative products.
Jiujiang Shuang Zheng Museum has integrated the cartoon-forming design of six main characters of Cantonese opera into the bottle and used plum wine as the base. As a result, it creates a set of Yueyun Plum Wine with Cantonese opera as the theme.
Foshan Bundled Trotter is a traditional Cantonese dish. This dish has been popular for more than one hundred years, and Dexinzhai is one of the oustanding brands.
Mang Gong Cake, one of Foshan's special snacks, originated in Jiaqing period in the Qing Dynasty, has a history of more than 160 years. A blind man unintentionally created it, and so called its name. This food is a type of rice cake, which is made up with high-quality rice flour, peanuts, sugar and sesame and other fillings. Unique production method, exquisite technology, round and tiny appearance and sweet taste, make it loved and respected by the majority of consumers.
Guangdong Shunde Distillery Company was originated from the folk distillery in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, located in Shunde, "the Capital of World Cuisine". After more than 100 years of inheritance and innovation, it has accumulated profound Lingnan brewing skills and culture, and it is the "Chinese Time-honored" professional distillery enterprise. Daliang Butterfly-shaped Fried Cookie is a traditional snack in Shunde. As its name suggested, it looks like a butterfly flapping its wings and dancing, with a crispy and sweet taste. It was developed by the famous food producer Li Xi in the late Qing Dynasty.
In recent years, Li Xuexiong, an inheritor from Shunde, has improved the formula, making it light in oil, looser in taste and more realistic in shape.
Gongxinglong Bakery was opened in 1880, with a history of more than 100 years. There is a popular saying in Foshan, "Bride will leave if you don't prepare Gongxinglong Cake as gift. As the bride eats the cake, you will soon have children around."
