From June 23 to 24, the 3rd Dragon Boat Race kicked off at the Dragon Boat Park segment of Wenhe River in Chencun, Foshan.
In this event, a total of 35 dragon boat teams and nearly 600 athletes participated in the races, which were divided into village group and friendship group. Eventually, Xianchong and Ganxian Teams were tied for the first place in the village group, and Local Firefighters won the friendly race.
As an important event for Chencun to build the brand of "water culture", a 12-person dragon boat tug of war was specially set in this year's event. Compared with the traditional dragon boat race, dragon boat tug of war, originating from the land sport, has been a much more difficult challenge for participants in terms of their instant explosive force, endurance and teamwork ability. With fast-paced and fierce confrontation, the exciting process made the competition more interesting and spectacular.
During the event, a series of activities, such as creative market, dragon boat experience, fun quizzes, and intangible cultural heritage DIY activities, were also designed for visitors. Remarkably, a grand dragon boat banquet along the Wenhai River was held. The banquet, where more than 5,000 people gathered together to have dinner at the same time, gave attendees an in-depth understanding of the cultural essence of the dragon boat banquet, and promoted the branding of the dragon boat culture and water village culture of Chencun.
Shunde, known as the "City of Gastronomy", owns rich culinary culture. The dragon boat banquet, as one of its typical examples, is not only a feast of taste, but also a joy of culture. In addition to the main courses, local delicacies like Chencun rice noodles and Chencun zongzi were also served in the banquet.
