In order to create a joyful and festive atmosphere for the celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, and to jointly build a innovation demonstration area for Chinese excellent traditional culture, Foshan and Guangzhou will hold the first Guangzhou-Foshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Week under the theme "Dragon Charm Ceremony, Spring in the Twin Cities" from January 15 to 19.

The event was held at the square in front of Huadiwan Life Center in Liwan, Guangzhou at 10:00 am on January 15. The event has set up multiple areas such as intangible cultural heritage markets, courses, and exhibitions, where citizens can go to experience and appreciate the beauty of Guangzhou and Foshan's intangible cultural heritage.

Grand Opening Ceremony of Intangible Cultural Heritage Week

The opening ceremony of the first Guangzhou-Foshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Week was held at 10:00 am on January 15. The ceremony featured performances of intangible cultural heritage projects from Liwan (Guangzhou) and Nanhai (Foshan), creating a joyful and festive atmosphere to celebrate the Dragon Year.

Immersive handmade experience activities

In order to help the citizens understand and experience intangible cultural heritage, an area for manual heritage experiences was set up next to the opening ceremony at 10:00 on January 15th. Zhou Chengjie, a municipal inheritor of Canton glazed porcelain in Liwan, and He Lirong, a municipal inheritor of cane woven fabric in Nanhai, were invited to provide on-site experiences and lessons.

The bustling Intangible Cultural Heritage Fair

During the week, 40 intangible cultural heritage markets, including Nanhai Huazhang intangible cultural heritage exhibition area, delicacies food experience areacraft exhibition area, traditional Chinese medicine free clinic area, and "time-honored brand" exhibition area will showcase the charm of intangible cultural heritage in a multi-dimensional way.

Symposium on Guangzhou-Foshan intangible cultural heritage

At 14:00 on January 15, the first Guangzhou-Foshan Intangible Cultural Heritage Week hosted a symposium on "Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection and Innovative Development".. Intangible Cultural Heritage experts and inheritors from Guangzhou and Foshan were invited to have a dialogue and discuss the high-quality development of intangible cultural heritage in the region.
