From April 11 to 15, the 46th International Invention Exhibition of Inventions Geneva co-held by the World Intellectual Property Organization and Swiss federal government was held in Geneva. More than 1,000 new inventions from over 40 countries and regions were showed at the exhibition. Two pieces of invention works from Nanhai Jiujiang Middle School won gold awards.
The two prize winning works are Lu Xingyu’s Intelligent Watering and Fertilizing Devices and Zeng Ziheng’s Changeable Flower Shaping Device and Auto Water Sprinkler System. Both students are junior freshmen and tutored by teacher Liu Zhiwei.
Two inventions realized technological breakthroughs. The Intelligent Watering and Fertilizing Devices is composed of fertilizer container, water feeder, controller, water content sensor, soil fertility tester, smartphone wifi and online soil/matrix fertility nitrogen phosphorus and potassium sensor (system), etc. This invention realizes intelligent full-automatic watering and fertilizing to ensure plants are full of water and fertilizer. The Changeable Flower Shaping Device and Auto Water Sprinkler System is composed of hexagon plastics, water feeder, controller, water content sensor, etc. The system uses hexagon plastics as primary element material, which can easily make all kinds of open-air shaped pergola. In order to maintain flowers on walls and balcony or in the air, it designs a full-automatic watering system to make sure that plants have adequate water without human management.

As one of the three biggest invention exhibitions in the world, the Geneva International Invention Exhibition was created in 1973, which is one of the invention exhibitions with the longest history, largest scale and biggest influence. It is an important stage for global inventors and a significant international platform for “industry-school-research” high and new technology to transform.
There are four levels of awards, special praise gold award, gold award, silver award and bronze award.
