At the opening ceremony of Guangdong Experimental Nanhai School in this morning, Wu Hao, an outstanding alumna who is accepted by Tsinghua University, was awarded the honorable scholarship of $29000.

Foshan Beilei Kindergarten welcomed the first day with lion dance. Parents were busy taking photos using their cell phones at the gate, while young kids were sitting beside the lions and accepting New Year blessing.

Coincided with the Lantern Festival, some primary schools chose to cross Tongji Bridge on the first day, such as Tiejun Primary School and Tongji Primary School. With the theme of charity, this is also the fourth year for Tongji Primary School to join the parade, taking part in the fundraiser of Guangdong Red Scarf Fund. As for students from Daliang Experimental Primary School, they enjoyed guessing lantern riddles and watching Chinese shadow puppetry.

Traditional Lunar New Year activities are also another good choice. Students from Foshan Experimental School had great fun in participating activities including writing wishes, making greeting cards and windmills at school.

Enjoying the First Day with Food
There are sixty-five stalls for sixty-five classes respectively in Daliang Experimental Primary School on the first day, promoting traditional folk activities. Parents from Class Two, Grade Three were making rice cakes, while students were grinding rice flour by using stone mill. Furthermore, some parents brought home-made Shunde gourmet lunjiao cakes to school for students, aiming to promote Shunde gourmet food

Nowadays activities on the first school day are becoming more and more various, but the most classic moment is still the Opening Ceremony in the morning.

This morning, aiming to highlight the solemnity of this opening ceremony and inspire students’ patriotism, Foshan No.3 Junior Middle School particularly invited retired flag-bearers from Beijing Tiananmen Guards to give special training to students of the school flag-bearer class. After then, students presented the awards to their favorite teachers by leading them to the stage. Teachers felt as surprised as winning the lottery.

Principal of Yuanjia Primary School chose a new idea , asking all teachers and students to wear red clothing to school bursting with happiness. Moreover, the school held “Thousand People with Fu (luck)” activity. Every student brought a Spring Festival couplet with the character “Fu” to school, sitting together at the auditorium to join the opening ceremony.

After the winter vacation, teachers and students are back to classroom again with new started semester. Each first class of 2017 is wonderful on its own.

First classes of the new semester in Sanshui Southwest Central Primary School differ amazingly. Class Five, Grade One held the class meeting, sharing micro-essays with the theme of “I Love My Home, SanShui”. Students from Class Three, Grade Three were sharing their holiday stories and moments.
