February 23rd, Satellite City of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center (hereinafter refer to the Satellite City) welcomed its first provincial major project. Shunde cooperated with South China Normal University(SCNU), released the joint project about Beijiao Affiliated School of SCNU (hereinafter refer to the Beijiao Affiliated School). This project will meet the local need for high-quality educational resources, as well as provide policy support for talents who move into the Satellite City to solve the difficulty of their children entering a school. In the future, Shunde plans to have cooperation in running schools with more well-known high schools both in and out of the province, in order to enhance its public service level and catch up with big cities like Guangzhou.
Yesterday the unveiling ceremony of the preparation office of Beijiao Affiliated School of SCNU and the news conference of the project were held.
The primary school will be opened in next September
As the first high quality educational project in the Satellite City, Beijiao Affiliated School is the first nine-year coherent education public school which is established by SCNU and government. This school is located in Beijiao new city area, covering an area of 150 mu. On the one hand, Shunde and Beijiao government will take charge in its construction and raise the operational funds. 350 million yuan (about $50.87 million) will be used for construction and delegated to SCNU. Besides, Shunde will allocate fund for teacher training and teaching research. On the other hand, SCNU will send a 3-5 person professional team to run the school, making use of expert and teacher resources in SCNU and its affiliated high school, and its high-quality educational resources including laboratories, special courses, academic competitions, independent recruitment and internationalization of education.

According to the plan, 60 classes will be built, 36 in primary school and 24 in middle school. The school can have 2700 students. The tendering and construction of the primary school will be started at the beginning of 2017 and finished at the end of this year. The decoration will be finished in the first half year in 2018. The primary school is planned to be opened in September, 2018. The middle school will be under construction in this year and opened in September, 2019.
"This is the best educational brand which has been introduced in Shunde. Beijiao Affiliated School will become a school which every one is looking forward to studying in.” Wang Yong, member of the standing committee of the CPC Shunde and deputy district head of Shunde said that except for local people, teachers and talents from Guangzhou can also share the school’s resources and receive policy support from provincial education department.
Cai Yaoxin, deputy director of Shunde Education Bureau, director of Education Bureau of Management of Shunde Northern Areas introduced that the students in Beijiao Affiliated School will be consisted of two parts. Except for local students to study in, the school will take measures to offer more places than other public schools, for children whose parents are teachers and talents moving into the Satellite City.
To build a model school in Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area in 3-5 years
"It is helpful to the construction of the Satellite City that the school is located in Beijiao, ” Cao Yaoxin said Shunde will make it become a model school in Shunde northern areas and even Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area in 3-5 years.
The ideas on running the school have been decided by SCNU and Shunde. Zhang Zhongren, director of SCNU social service department and chief of education development center said SCNU will make the school become a model school in Shunde, a research center for basic education, a practice and employment base for students from SCNU. Furthermore, supporting Shunde to build several modern model schools and training hundreds of class teachers, tens of famous teachers and schoolmasters.
"What makes Beijiao Affiliated School so special is because it belongs to Shunde, not Beijiao. It will make great influence on Shunde and even Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center. ” Wang Yong said Shunde will give support in administrative authority, teacher’s salary and enrollment policies to make it become a best public shool in Shunde.
It was revealed that Shunde northern areas will improve public service facilities in education and medical service, to build an educational and medical high land in the Pearl River Delta and provide services to talents. Education Bureau of Management of Shunde Northern Areas plan to build 11 new schools and 10 model schools in next three years. Besides, Shunde northern areas will also enrich the Satellite City’s connotation by holding activities and strengthen the building of public cultural facilities around the talented community .
