On August 15, "2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities" was released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, a world-leading organization on higher education assessment. The ranking showcases top 1000 research universities in the world, with a total of 191 universities from Chinese mainland on the list. Foshan University has made itself on the list for three consecutive years, and ranks 740th in the world and 137th in China.

Since the release of the "14th Five-Year Plan", Foshan University has consistently adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating students with high moral standards. It has implemented three major initiatives, including renaming the university, applying for doctoral degree programs, and enhancing disciplinary influence. The university has continuously improved, achieving a great leap forward growth in various educational indicators and enhancing its comprehensive strength.

Five majors, including Engineering, Material Science, Environmental Science/Ecology, Botany and Animal Science, and Chemistry, have entered the top 1% of the global ESI ranking. Veterinary Science and Agricultural Science were included in the "2022 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects". Optical Engineering, Zootechny, and Mathematics were selected on the ShanghaiRanking's Best Subjects in China.

With the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Foshan) Advanced Manufacturing National Outstanding Engineer Innovation Research Institute settling in the university, Foshan University has been on the list of China's Top 100 Universities for Invention and Innovation.

The ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was first released in 2003 and is the world's first comprehensive global university ranking. It is also one of the most influential and authoritative university rankings in the world.
