Updates on COVID-19 Situation in Foshan

From 00:00 to 24:00, April 11, 2022, Foshan reported 4 new local asymptomatic cases, of which 3 are key personnel associated with the positive truck driver from outside Guangdong, and 1 is among close contacts of positive cases in key areas. In addition, there were 2 new asymptomatic imported cases from abroad.

As of 24:00, April 11, there have been a total of 366 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city (including 261 imported from abroad), with no deaths reported. 

1. Three new asymptomatic cases among key personnel associated with the positive truck driver from outside Guangdong 

Case 25: a 36-year-old female staff at a textile factory in Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵科技工业园) in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District. She received centralized quarantine on April 7 as a close contact of case 11 (an employee of the same factory), and tested positive on April 11. 

Case 26: a 50-year-old female staff at a furniture factory in Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵科技工业园) in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District. She received centralized quarantine on April 9 as a close contact of case 17 (an employee of the same factory), and tested positive on April 11. 

Case 27: a 53-year-old male staff at a furniture factory in Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵科技工业园) in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District. He received centralized quarantine on April 9 as a close contact of case 17 (an employee of the same factory), and tested positive on April 11. 

According to epidemiological investigation, the above cases visited the following key places in Foshan: 

Nanhai District: 

Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵镇科技工业园), Xiqiao Town 

Le-Mart (乐卖特), Minle Community(民乐社区), Xiqiao Town 

Kungfu Dumpling, Qiaoling Guoji Shopping Mall (樵岭国际)，Xiqiao Town 

Anta Sports Products Shop, Qiaoling Guoji Shopping Mall (樵岭国际)，Xiqiao Town 

Luzhou Laodian Restaurant (泸州老店), Qiaoan Market (樵岸市场)，Xiqiao Town 

2. One asymptomatic case among  close contacts of positive cases in key areas: a 9-year-old female, close contact of a positive case among personnel in key areas(daughter of a positive case reported on April 11). She tested negative in the nucleic acid testing on April 9 and 10 and then received quarantine on April 10 as a close contact of her father after her father tested positive. She tested positive in centralized quarantine site on April 11. 

According to epidemiological investigation, the above cases visited the following key places in Foshan: 

Chancheng District: 

Fotie Apartment (佛铁公寓), Zumiao Sub-district 

Nanhai District: 

Baolijian Badminton Hall (保力健羽毛球馆), Guicheng Sub-district 

Shunde District: 

Songyun Piano Store (松韵琴行), Lecong Town 

All of the above four people are confirmed as asymptomatic cases based on clinical manifestations. They have been transferred to a designated hospital for medical observation in a closed-loop. Close contact, sub-close contact and key places involved are already under control. 

Everyone has the responsibility to curb the spread of COVID-19. In order to timely investigate and control risks, people having visited key epidemic-related places from April 5 to April 10 are requested to report to their residential community, conduct health management according to regulations, and cooperate with pandemic prevention and control measures. 

In the nucleic acid testing for the people in Foshan on April 11, a total of 10.1898 million samples were obtained. As of 24:00 on the same day, the result of 3.48 million samples came out and all are negative. Since April 6, Nanzhuang Town of Chancheng District has held 6 rounds of nucleic acid testing and Xiqiao Town has held 3 rounds. Except for positive cases in relevant key areas, the rest tested negative. 

3.Two new asymptomatic imported cases from abroad 

Case 1 departed from South Korea on March 30, arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the same day by flight KE865, and was transferred to a centralized quarantine destination in a closed loop. The case tested positive for COVID-19 during the quarantine period, then was transferred to a designated quarantine site for medical observation, and became asymptomatic on April 11. 

Case 2 departed from Thailand on March 28, arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the same day by flight AQ1008, and was transferred to a centralized quarantine destination in a closed loop. The case tested positive for COVID-19 during the quarantine period, then was transferred to a designated quarantine site for medical observation, and became asymptomatic on April 11. 

We call for all residents and visitors to improve the awareness of COVID-19 prevention, conduct sound personal protection, properly wear a mask, wash your hands often, ventilate frequently, and keep a safe social distance. Please actively cooperate with authorities at sub-district level and community level to take necessary prevention and control measures such as nucleic acid testing, and take at least two vaccination doses as soon as possible. If you have symptoms such as fever, try to avoid taking public transportation and go to the fever clinic of a medical institution in time for treatment.
