Updates on COVID-19 Situation in Foshan

From 00:00 to 24:00, April 13, 2022, Foshan reported 3 new local asymptomatic cases, of which 2 are close contacts associated with the positive truck driver from outside Guangdong, and 1 is a close contact of the positive case reported in the nucleic acid testing for key personnel returning to Foshan. All 3 cases were reported during their centralized quarantine period. In addition, there were 2 new asymptomatic imported cases from abroad. 

As of 24:00, April 13, there have been a total of 367 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city (including 262 imported from abroad), with no deaths reported. 
 

1. Two new asymptomatic cases among close contacts associated with the positive truck driver from outside Guangdong 

Case 33: a 50-year-old female employee of a logistics warehouse in Dongcun Village(东村物流仓), Nanzhuang Town. She lived together with case 15 and therefore received centralized quarantine on April 10 as a close contact. She tested positive on April 13. 

Case 34: a 25-year-old male employee of a furniture factory in Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵科技工业园) in Xiqiao Town. He lived together with case 17 and therefore received centralized quarantine on April 9 as a close contact. He tested positive on April 13. 

According to epidemiological investigation, the above cases visited the following key places in Foshan: 

Chancheng District: 

Baiwu Village Group(白屋村小组), Shangyuan Village(上元村), Nanzhuang Town 

Yongyuan Ceramics(永源陶瓷), Nanzhuang Town(No. 20 logistics warehouse in Dongcun Village, Nanzhuang Town) 
 

Nanhai District: 

Xiqiao Science and Technology Industrial Park (西樵镇科技工业园)，Xiqiao Town 

2. One new asymptomatic case as a close contact of a positive case reported in the nucleic acid testing for key personnel returning to Foshan: a 31-year-old female received centralized quarantine on April 12 as a close contact of the positive case reported in the nucleic acid testing for key personnel returning to Foshan, with whom she lived together, and tested positive on April 13. 

According to epidemiological investigation, the above case visited the following key places in Foshan: 

Nanhai District: 

Fujing Mansion(富景大厦), Huangqi Sub-district,Dali Town 

Lanchengge(蓝城阁), Shamian Xincheng(沙面新城),No.1 Haibei Avenue(海北大道), Huangqi Sub-district 

All of the above three people are confirmed as asymptomatic cases based on clinical manifestations. They have been transferred to a designated hospital for medical observation in a closed-loop. Close contact, sub-close contact and key places involved are already under control. 

Everyone has the responsibility to curb the spread of COVID-19. In order to timely investigate and control risks, people having visited key epidemic-related places from April 8 to April 12 are requested to report to their residential community, conduct health management according to regulations, and cooperate with pandemic prevention and control measures. 
 

In the nucleic acid testing for the people in Chancheng District as well as people in key areas of Nanhai and Shunde District on April 12 and 13, a total of 4.455 million samples were obtained. As of 24:00 on April 13, the result of 2.185 million samples came out and all are negative. 
 

3. Two new asymptomatic imported cases from abroad 

Case 1 departed from South Korea on March 30, arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the same day by flight KE865, and was transferred to a centralized quarantine destination in a closed loop. The case tested positive for COVID-19 during the quarantine period, then was transferred to a designated quarantine site for medical observation and became asymptomatic on April 13.  

Case 2 departed from Oman on April 8, arrived at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on the same day by flight WY851, and was transferred to a centralized quarantine destination in a closed loop. The case tested positive for COVID-19 during the quarantine period, then was transferred to a designated quarantine site for medical observation and became asymptomatic on April 13.
