The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the only direct expressway connecting the two cities, is scheduled to be completed in 2024.

Upon completion, the intercity bus between Shenzhen and Zhongshan will also be in operation, according to the transportation authorities in Zhongshan.

With a total length of 24 kilometers, the sea-crossing project is designed for a speed of 100 km/h. By then, the commuting time from Shenzhen to Zhongshan will be only 30 minutes.

The convenient public transport will not only reduce the traveling time and cost but also promote integrated development between the two cities.

Besides bus lines, the city will also intensify its efforts to improve the regional expressway network with Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link and strengthen connectivity with major cities, airports, transport hubs, ports and docks in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), including at least 3 expressways with each neighboring city.

The city is actively working with other counterparts in the province to boost infrastructure connectivity. For instance, together with Guangzhou, it is accelerating the construction of Nansha-Zhuhai (Zhongshan) Intercity Railway and Guangzhou-Zhuhai (Macao) High-Speed Railway, with stations including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Yuzhou, Nansha, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai Hezhou.

By 2025, it will take just one hour traveling from Zhongshan to other neighboring cities in GBA, 30 minutes from the city downtown to suburban areas and Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, and 15 minutes from the suburban centers to the adjacent expressways.
