Recently, Guangdong Railway Construction Investment Group has agreed on the acceptance test of the trial section (from Guicheng to Sanshan) of Nanhai Neo-Public Transportation System. The trial run is expected to begin at the end of November, 2022.

With a total length of 14.3 kilometers, Nanhai Tram Line includes 15 stations. The first 9.5 km of Nanhai Tram Line 1 was opened on 18 August 2021 with 10 stations. The extension of another 4.8 km has five stops, including Wenhanhu Park, Sanshan New Town S., Linyue N., Linyue W., and Linyue E.

Once completed, the line, which run through east to west of Guicheng, will faciliate travel among Qiandenghu Lake, Yingyuehu Lake and Sanlongwan Nanhai Area (Wenhan Lake). Moreover, it will connect to Metro Line 2 and further contribute to development of Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area.

As a traffic hub in the junction area between Guangzhou and Foshan, Nanhai Tram Line 1 is expected to connect projects like Foshan Metro Line 1 and the Guangzhou–Zhuhai Intercity Line, etc. It will be a key part to strengthen the connection between Foshan and other cities in the Greater Bay Area, and the development of Guangzhou-Foshan metropolitan area will gain new momentum by creating a new metropolitan rail transit network.
