On March 10, the main tower's P9 section of the Guangfo Bridge System Project (Phase I) was hoisted, and the main tower of the bridge was successfully topped out. The topping out of the main tower is a major milestone of the Guangfo Bridge System Project, and the next focus of the project construction will be shifted to the beam spanning. The overall project is planned to be completed and opened in 2024.

At the construction site, the 100.5-meter-high main tower stands on the river. The main tower adopts the cable-stayed bridge structure with the central cable-faced steel-mixed composite beam. With a total of 9 sections of tower columns, this project adopts prefabricated construction mode, and the maximum lifting weight of a single section is over 116.5 tons. To ensure the smooth lifting of the steel structure section, the project is equipped with a super large tower crane with a lifting capacity of over 200 tons, which is the most advanced in China with its independent height without attachment and its maximum lifting capacity.

The construction of the main tower began in December 2022. Despite the suspension of the pandemic and the Spring Festival holiday, this project took 97 days to successfully complete the task goal of topping out the main tower. The Guangfo Bridge System Project (Phase I) is mainly for the traffic connection between Foshan, Nanhai and Guangzhou. The Guangfo Bridge spans three administrative districts of the two cities, starting from Nanhai District Jianshe Avenue in the west, crossing the Baisha River in the east, and ending at Datansha Island, with a total length of 1.3 kilometers. After completion, the project will greatly ease the transportation pressure of the Jinshazhou Bridge, improve the transportation convenience of the Jinshazhou region, and further strengthen the connection between Guangzhou and Foshan.
