On May 19, Guangdong Airport Group Foshan Gaoming Airport Co., Ltd. was formally established with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan. It's generally believed that airport operation institution usually names after the title of corresponding airport. Therefore, it highly suggests that the official name of Pearl River Delta Hub (Guangzhou New) Airport would be "Foshan Gaoming International Airport".

This registration also marks the beginning of the construction and operation of the airport. Stated in The 2023 Foshan Government Work Report, the new airport in Gaoming is scheduled for construction within this year. And on May 6, the Plan for the Pearl River Delta Hub (Guangzhou New) Airport has passed the expert review.

The Pearl River Delta Hub (Guangzhou New) Airport will be the third largest hub airport in Guangdong and the first hub airport in western Guangdong. It is expected to reach a passenger throughput of over 30 million in 2035 and 50 million in 2050. Additionally, the airport has been recognised as provincial key construction projects of 2023, with an estimated investment of more than 50 billion yuan.
