Recently, the fifth batch of villages on the list of Chinese Traditional Villages was published, and Foshan has 10 ancient villages on the list!    

 

　　在经济飞速发展的今天，佛山地区的传统古村落更显得弥足珍贵——它们不仅传承着古老的岭南文化，更寄托着一代代佛山人的乡愁。每个村落背后，都饱含了浓浓的乡情与人情。让我们看看是哪十条古村落吧！

　　Nowadays, as economy develops rapidly, the traditional ancient villages in Foshan are more and more precious. They not only inherit the ancient Lingnan culture, but also bear the nostalgia of generations of Foshan people. Behind every village, it is full of rich rural and human feelings. Lets see which ten ancient villages are! 

 

　　南海区丹灶镇仙岗村

　　仙岗村建筑依山而建，呈座北向南的半环形状。建筑群保留了以礼制为中心的传统建筑特点，形成以陈氏大宗祠为中心，以低井坊、水巷坊为核心的明清时期民居建筑群。

　　Seated on the north and facing the south, Xiangang Village is built near the hill and it shows the shape of a semicircular ring. The architectural complex retains the traditional architectural characteristics that focuses on ritual system, and they form a residential complex in the Ming and Qing Dynasties with Chens Ancestral Hall as the center and Dijing Alley & Shuixiang Alley as the core.

 

　　南海区狮山镇璜溪村

　　璜溪村，座南向北，四周河涌环绕。建筑风格多姿多彩，石刻、砖雕、灰塑到处可见。璜溪炮台是村里最具代表性的建筑，建于民国时期。历史更为悠久的李氏大宗祠始建于明朝，距今已有400多年历史。每逢重要的日子，村民都会相聚，欢声笑语充斥着整个璜溪村，热闹非凡。

　　Huangxi Village, seated on the south and facing the north, is surrounded by rivers. You can see numerous architectural styles in the village. Stone carving, brick carving, the grey pottery can be seen everywhere. Built in the period of Republic of China, Huangxi Battery is the most representative building in the village. Lis Ancestral Hall, which has a longer history, was built in the Ming Dynasty, has more than 400 years of history. On every important date, villagers will gather together to celebrate.

 

　　南海区狮山镇黎边村

　　沿村前而行，明清古民居、祠堂、家庙、书舍等错落有致，是过去粤中地区典型的梳式结构。黎边村曾走出很多名人，如末代皇帝溥仪的老师黎湛枝、清末富商黎荣等等。

　　Walking along the village, Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient dwellings, ancestral halls, temples and book houses from Ming and Qing Dynasty are staggered, which is a typical comb-structure in central Guangdong in the past. Libian Village has given birth to many celebrities, such as Li Zhanzhi, a teacher of the last emperof Puyi, Li Rong, a rich businessman in the late Qing Dynasty and so on.

 

　　南海区里水镇汤南村

　　汤南村背山靠水，村前有一方池塘，池塘之外是一大片的花田。置身其中，让人心情不由的放松。古村民居、祠堂、书塾、炮楼、池塘兼备，聚族而居，布局协调，风格统一。

　　Tangnan Village is built against the mountain and faces rivers. There is a pond in front of the village. Outside the pond, there is a large area of flower field, which makes people feel relaxed. Ancient villagers’ residence, ancestral hall, book house, family temple, battery and ponds are available, showing a coordinated and unified style.

 

　　南海区里水镇赤山村

　　从里水城区驱车，约20分钟就能到达赤山村。这里拥有优美的水乡风情，村内古建筑群密集而整齐，呈现棋盘式布局。保存完好的祠堂，以及将军第等建筑，告诉世人这里曾经的兴盛。

　　Drive from Lishui Town, it is about 20 minutes to arrive in Chishan Village. It has beautiful waterside scenery, and the ancient buildings in the village are dense and orderly, forming a layout of chessboard. The well-preserved ancestral hall, as well as the general-buildings tell the world how prosperous it used to be.

 

　　三水区芦苞镇独树岗村

　　芦苞独树岗村建村有700多年，是三水最大的自然村，因古时候村中山岗上的一棵巍然屹立的参天大树而得名。村中的蔡氏大宗祠、洪圣古庙、秀清公园等建筑，无不印证着它的悠久历史。

　　Dushugang Village, which has been built for more than 700 years, is the largest natural village in Sanshui. It is named after a big tree on the hill in ancient times. The architectures such as Cai’s Ancestral Temple, Hongsheng Ancient Temple, Xiuqing Park and etc. verify its long history. 

 

　　高明区荷城街道阮埇村 

　　阮埇村，古有“高明第一望族”之称，先后出过15名进士，48名举人。身栖高明荷城街道荷富路一侧，附近河涌密布且环村绕庄。阮埇村存着一百多栋明清民居，是佛山高明区保存最完好的乡村古建筑群。

　　Ruanyong Village, known as "Gaoming’s First Famous Family" in ancient times, has cultivated 15 Jinshi and 48 Juren. Living on the side of Hefu Road in Hecheng, it’s surrounded by rivers and villages. There are more than 100 Ming and Qing dwellings in Ruanyong Village, which is the most well-preserved rural ancient building complex in Gaoming District.  

 

　　高明区荷城街道榴村村

　　榴村（陆家）位于高明荷城。村内建筑皆坐西北而向东南，一条古老的石路横跨全村。依山临水，风水极佳。村落里仍保留着几十座青砖镬耳屋和陆氏大宗祠。

　　Liucun Village is located in Hecheng, Gaoming. The buildings in the village are seated northwest to southeast, and an ancient stone road goes across the village. Located by mountains and rivers, the village has a beautiful scenery. It still retains Lu’s Ancestral Temple and dozens of grey-brick wok-eared houses.

 

　　高明区荷城街道上湾村

　　上湾村坐落在高明翠鹭湾，属于高明区新农村建设村庄之一。上湾村贝丘遗址位于上湾村东面，面积约 5600平方米，距今约 3500 年。2010年被公布为高明区文物保护单位。

　　Shangwan Village is located in Gaoming Cuilu Bay, belonging to one of the new rural construction villages in Gaoming District. Shangwan Village Shell Mound site is located in the east of the village, covering an area of about 5,600 square meters, having a history of 3,500 years. It was announced as a cultural relics protection unit in Gaoming District in 2010.

 

　　高明区更合镇朗锦村

　　位于高明更合镇的朗锦村，拥有多间从明朝中叶至民国初年这几百年间先后建成的祠堂。每年农历二月十三日，家家户户都制作角仔到庙里拜祭洪圣爷，祈求来年风调雨顺、五谷丰登。近年发展成为特色非文化遗产“角仔节”。

　　Langjin Village, located in Genghe, Gaoming, has a number of ancestral halls built from the middle of the Ming Dynasty to the early years of the Republic of China. Every year, on the 13th day of the first lunar month, every family makes rice dumplings to worship Hongsheng Master in the temple, praying for smooth and abundant new year. In recent years, it has been developed into a characteristic intangible heritage “Dumpling Festival”.
