On December 20, Tanzhou Tunnel, as China's first two-way eight-lane underwater tunnel with immersed tubes, has started for the 4-year construction. As a key project of Guangdong Province and Foshan, the tunnel will be built with world-class technology and standards.

3.64 billion yuan investment: Introduce experts of key projects

The project will be built in accordance with the first-class highway standards and urban road functions. With 316 meters of immersed tube connected, the main line and the auxiliary road has a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and 40 kilometers per hour, respectively.

According to experienced team, The First Harbour Engineering Company Limited of China Communications Construction Company Limited, the construction is confronted with new challenges of the width, the height and the weight of a single immersed tube of the Tanzhou Tunnel.

Therefore, the technical team of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge are invited to lead, applying advanced technology so as to build another world-class demonstration project.

Integrated into GBA construction: Facilitate transportation between Guangzhou and Foshan

Tanzhou Tunnel is an important part of the northern extension of Lungui Road. While Foshan is driving up the construction of the Greater Bay Area, the Dongping Water Axis is the central axis of the planning core of the Sanlongwan High-end Innovation Cluster. With Tanzhou Waterway connected to the Dongping Waterway, Tanzhou Tunnel will become the linkage for regional development and construction, and further help promote the integration of transportation in Sanlongwan.
