Recently, National Territory Spatial Planning for Gaoming District (2021-2023) has been reviewed by experts.

Build a modern comprehensive transportation system to strengthen regional cooperation

Located on the west side of the Xijiang River, Gaoming lags behind in connecting with major cities like Guangzhou and Shenzhen. One of the objectives of the planning is to pinpoint a ladder for Gaoming to actively participate in the construction of the GBA.

According to the plan, it's proposed that Gaoming will build a modern comprehensive transportation system of "Airport + High-Speed Railway + Metro + Highway + Port" with "Air and Rail Hubs", "Six Major Railways", "Nine Highways" and "Two Districts and One Port" as the core, so as to deepen opening up and coordination externally, and reconstruct urban space internally.

So far, the construction of Guangzhou-Zhanjiang High-speed Railway (Xijiang Section) and Pearl River Delta International Airport Section has made new progress. And the construction of Gaoming station will start within this year.

In the future, Gaoming will integrate into the regional innovation paradigm of "Guangzhou Innovation Brain and Foshan Transformation Center" while it will also promote industrial cooperation among Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing under the construction of the Western Airport Economic Zone to jointly build a world-class modern industrial system.

Resolve imbalance in regional development to accomplish the industrial blueprint

With accelerated progress been made for the construction of the Pearl River Delta Airport, a number of high-speed rail stations will soon be constructed. By then, Gaoming will embrace industry-wise in a new stage amid efforts to develop the three major industries of airport industry, low-carbon manufacturing industry and green agricultural tourism industry.

Gaoming will take Airport New City in the west and Xijiang New City in the east as two key cores to drive the comprehensive construction of the airport logistics system among Genghe, Mingcheng and Yanghe Town, eventually constructing a characteristic airport industry chain. For Xijiang New Town, Gaoming will promote the level of specialization and value-added activities in e-commerce and business services. Grounded on the high-quality urban functionality in the east, it will,optimize the living amenity of high-level talents in the west. Underpinned by the Airport New City in the west, transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry in the east will strengthen the momentum of growth.

Gaoming has also designated an ecological protection red line of 34,347 acres, accounting for 43 percent of Foshan's ecological protection "red line" area, which further highlights the role of western Foshan as ecological barrier. At the same time, in response to the national food security strategy, 14,151 acres of permanent basic farmland has been designated to ensure quality and quantity. In accordance with the principle of intensive conservation and high-quality development, the urban development boundary has been delineated by 3,805 acres, ranking first in the five districts in the urban expansion ratio, which leaves more flexible and broad space for the layout of industrial projects and urban construction.

Gaoming shall further optimize its achievement based on nation's latest policies, taking nation's latest strategies into consideration and ramping up efforts on rural revitalization, suggested by the experts.
