From September 23 to October 15, "Remember the Nostalgia - The Second Exhibition of Lingnan Water Town In New Era Paintings · Years" kicked off at the New Shiwan Art Museum in Foshan.

In order to explore the Lingnan water town culture originated in Cantonese culture, present the characteristics of Lingnan water town landscape and culture that have flourished and developed over time, and promote the creative transformation and innovative development of the water town culture, the exhibition highlights the theme of "Remembering Nostalgia", explores and interprets the historical value of Lingnan water town from the perspective of "time".

The Vegetable Garden in My Hometown/ Liang Genxiang

As the earliest region in China to undergo urbanization and industrialization, Lingnan region has been transforming itself under the impact of economic waves, The fact is that water town of today is no longer a "secret getaway" of simplicity, tranquility and poetry, while its essence has updated and expanded with the times, providing artists with a broader space for imagination and art interpretation, and diversifying the artistic image of Lingnan water town.

Divided into three chapters "Contemplation," "Feelings," and "Signs," the exhibition displays a total of 116 artworks and delivers diverse thoughts about the themes. Among them, "Contemplation" focuses on the significant changes in the traditional appearance and spatial pattern of Lingnan water town during the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, emphasizing the spirit of the times. "Feelings" stresses the emotional projection of the artists onto Lingnan water town, highlighting the humanistic attachment. As for the works in "Signs", they center on artists’ innovation of techniques and creation concepts, which emphasize their new visual exploration of the presentation forms.

Although the three chapters have different focuses, they all attempt to present a new form of expression of Lingnan water town from the perspective of contemporary art, showcasing the diverse exploration and innovation of contemporary artists towards this unique regional cultural phenomenon.

In addition, this exhibition brings together artworks from artists in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shantou, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Chaozhou, and other cities, hoping to tighten the connection among artists of the Lingnan region and provide more possibilities for the development of water town-themed artworks.
